This is probably gonna be like Daniel Craig in first 007. All the haters went nuts when he was picked as James Bond and they didn't know what the fuck hit them when they saw him in action.

So I reserve the judgement until I see the movie.

The last superhero movie he was in was Daredevil. In case you're not aware, it's the single lamest movie in superhero history.

He does get intense criticism. I like some of his movies. He wrote, directed and acted in The Town and I love that movie. I think the major criticism he gets over Batman is due to his poor performance in the poorly done Daredevil.

Well I think because this is the first superhero movie he is in people automatically remember daredevil and say ahhh fuck.

But I do agree. He has been pretty good in his recent stuff.

I just think Affleck doesn't play a good bad ass. Other than that I like most his movies.

Batman and to some extent, Daredevil, are the only superheroes with some nuanced character. Supes is boring - yeah, I'm invincible and ridiculously strong and can fly and cannot be defeated by anything on this planet. Great.

Batman is a tortured character, with flaws and inner demons. Daredevil obviously has this vulnerability - especially read Frank Miller's version. They are human with all the nobility and the faults of a human. Not an invincible cartoon superhero. That's why it takes no acting ability to portray Superman, but it takes someone like Bale to really pull off Batman. That's why Affleck didn't cut it as Daredevil, although the screenplay was terrible as well.

It takes a lot of effort to pull off Batman and Daredevil because of the nature of the characters - strength balanced by vulnerability, essentially dark, so dark in theme and character without becoming tragic. It takes a talented actor, a director with vision and a screenplay writer with inspiration.

Saw that today. I've become even less interested. They have Batman sounding and looking like a robot. And the kid they having playing Lex comes off like a weak rip off of Ledger's Joker.

I'm just interested in it because they did a bunch of filming right next to my apartment in uptown Chicago so I'm looking forward to seeing that.
