  • New ride - decisions

    First things first;

    1) I will be buying
    2) It will be second hand
    3) I like german; BMW and maybe Mercedes, Audi I only like RS4
    4) I want a convertible as I never had one
    5) I like diesel oil (huge torque, great economy) but could be tempted with the right petrol.

So in terms of BMW I like the 335d and could get a sub 100k mileage on say 2008 plate for the money.

I also like some of the E class mercs

And Mercedes doesn't sell either of those in diesel.

I personally dislike convertibles, but I definitely wouldn't get an older car with one because it's bound to eventually (if not already) become weathered and leak, etc.

Besides, England + convertible?! Come on, Mr I! :P

Ugh, automatic only. Is it a paddle shifter?

I learnt to drive manual but these days I only buy automatic

And I will say this, the BMW automatic box is pretty much the best there is, at the lights virtually nothing beats it

Auto is the way to go. Especially the newer gear boxes. They are faster and smoother then stick.

The only thing I'll say and this could be a culture difference between England and US but a man with a convertible is seen as a bit fruity bro. Not that I would give a shit about what others think.

On top of that, a convertible sacrifices body rigidity of the car.

I wouldn't buy a used convertible, not even German.

The build quality of a BMW convertible or an RS4 is pretty good. Sure there is still a little roll and more bodyweight but I just never owned one so for me it would be something new

I here ya bro. Get what ya want. I just don't see you in a BMW convertible. Not your look IMO, bit too girly for you.

I think a convertible works for a guy if it is a roadster. For a sedan, not so much.
