  • Heading West - California Move - Update

Been a stressful week finalizing everything, credit approvals etc..

Few major changes. First and foremost the location change, LA is out. What you get for the money there is obviously limited. It's an expensive city that's no secret. Started looking in other areas of Cali just to see what I can get for the money and I settled on the Sacramento area.

Basically you can get a very nice 1 bedroom apartment in a nice and safe neighborhood with full amenities for $1k a month. In LA that price point gets you very little in a not so great place so I decided my quality of life would be much better in North Cali. If I had 2-3k a month to spend I'd definitely be in the LA area but that's just not doable right now.

Short trip to Napa/Sonoma wine country, San Fran, Yosemite National Park etc.. So it's a beautiful area in it's own right and the better choice for me right now.

Move in date early June. Fully renovated, 750sq ft, washer an dryer in unit, 1 bed room 1 bath, gated community with security guard for 1k per month.

One thing I would say to anyone thinking about moving across country. Actually getting out there is fucking expensive even if your doing the work yourself. The rental moving truck alone when you include gas and tolls will be 3k. The security deposit and first months rent will be 2k to move in. So 5k just to get out there and get moved in. Definitely needed the help of friends and family on this one. Thanks to everyone here who helped me out, I really couldn't have done it without everyone's help.

Looks really nice bro! I've got a friend that lives in Sac. And works at UC Davis. You shouldnt be too far from las vegas either. Sure you'll love it there. I've always wanted to go to Yosemite.

Do you have to tow the Audi? That gets expensive .

No I'm giving the Audi back. Was in her name, wouldn't be fair to take it especially if I can't make the payments.

For the first time in my life I want to do what's right rather then just doing what's easiest for me.

Venice is in LA so its pretty far. About 5 hours drive. I'll be much closer to San Fran then LA.

But yea tons of gyms/fitness clubs, high end malls with great shops and great places to eat outside etc..

Norcal... Totally different vibe from SoCal. Sometimes I wonder why the two are even part of the same state.

Yea. Part of my decision was influenced by how much I loved the Napa/Sonoma area during my trip a few years ago. Probably my favorite place I've ever been.

SoCal is equally amazing for different reasons.
