i know, i thought it was the reciever, but since doing the same with a different reciever, i dunno what it is. the thing is, it works fine when i put it on the co-ax input.... but co-ax just looks not as clear as when it's on video2....

It could also be the incoming signal from the satellite antenna, somewhere between the dish and your reciever or the dish itself. The dish has a demodulator on it to step down the frequency being transmitted from the satellite. There could be an intermittent problem with that also. I can't be certain w/o actually being there.

When you say co-ax are you still referring to using your DTV w/a coax output or going to actual cable signal?

Damn, well that excludes any problems back to the dish.

that's why i know it's somewhere here - either TV or reciever... but it's gotta be reciever b/c the TV works with other things like my dvd. this sucks

Ok, the comp i/p worked w/the dvd on saturday. And it flickers in the same i/p jacks w/the dtv.

Did you notice the flicker before you used the dvd in vid2 or did it just start sometime after you used it for the dvd?

only started after the direct tv was installed.

I didn't realize it was new system, I thought it was an existing system becoming faulty. So chances are that it is a faulty receiver/s (which I'm sure you've gathered by this point). There is a very slim chance that your i/p jack's internal connection has become faulty since you last used it (not likely, but possible). It's probably just gremlins though. Sorry that is the extent of my assistance...good luck.

Don't they have a customer support troubleshooting hotline or something similar?
