  • I've finally abandoned Cable TV

Decided the time was finally right to stop paying for TV service.

Got 25mbps internet from a local company for $25 a month.

I only ever watch documentaries anyway and for that I will use my Netflix account or stream from YouTube, PBS, etc.. I have my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI and a wireless controller (pic below) so I can just leave my laptop closed and placed in my home theater shelf where my cable box used to go.

For live events like Olympics or Superbowl I have a little indoor antenna that hides behind the TV that picks up all the networks in HD. (Pic Below)

For certain things only on the cable channels like my formula 1 races I can torrent them. They are usually available on the torrent sites about 2 hours after the race has finished.

From $100 bucks a month to $25 a month and I can watch exactly the same stuff I would have before. I think that's a pretty good deal.

Yea I can do that but the ps4 doesn't allow the flexibility of things like torrents etc.

Even when given channels though, how many do you watch?

The only way cable or Sat could get me to return as a customer is to allow me to pay for the channels I want.

With U-Verse I had something like 250 channels and watched at max about 7 of them. Never turned the other channels on one time. It's a waste.

Cool. I had dropped cable for a long time.. just added it back on a few months ago to catch some specific shows but plan to drop it again, I think. I hardly ever watch TV and like you, pretty much everything I watch is on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

It was some show on the National Geographic channel that my son wanted to see. Turned out to be not so great.

                        You mean besides torrents?

If you don't know how to use torrents I can post the programs I use.

does that work on a computer instead of just an app? for example i have my laptop already connected to my tv. Can I just download a program right to my laptop?
