Fly into the Bay Area. Rent a car, see Yosemite and drive up the coast, all the way to the Olympic peninsula. The coastline is spectacular and the Redwoods are mind blowing.

I felt the same way before I went to Seattle and took a short trip down the coast to Oregon. It's SO pretty there.
