  • Looking at Naples Florida

    But August is hurricane season

What are the chances / would it still be cool?

It'll be humid that's all I know. Better to go in April - May

Naples is nice..just a typical florida west coast beach..nothing special Not someplace Id want to spend a vacation at..same restruants stores etc as all other towns... If your gonna do Florida...go to the keys.

I'll be slightly north of Naples the last week of July. I had a couple people tell me the same about the heat. But I'm going to be at the beach and around water (ocean and pool). Maybe once I'm there I'll think differently but I'm not really concerned about it.

Ok thanks all (B that post was in the wrong thread I'd meant it to go in the enanth/cyp thread, meaning you so consistent in choice of juice).

I've never been to Florida so to some extent, just going there would be a new adventure for me. Also, sometimes off season can be a ways cheaper for a Brit flying.

But I take your points on board. Perhaps Miami and keys are better.

Honestly I kind of like interchangeable rain and sun so as long as we didn't get hurricane I'd be fine about that.

I agree. Since you've never been to Florida, you should go somewhere a little less quiet. Also, our hurricane season is long, and you really can't put too much worry into that. Yes, we get them, but not often enough to be included in your pros and cons list. Also, with hurricanes we have notice that they are coming. :)

I really feel like a cruise would be a great option for you. Fly into Miami, spend a few days, and take a cruise somewhere for a few days. That way you get to see multiple places, but also still relax, eat, drink, shop, etc.

Tomorrow I am driving to Miami and cruising to Key West and Cozumel. Something like that would be perfect for you because you aren't stuck somewhere your whole trip, and it's short so you still have time before or after to view South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, etc.

Indian Rocks Beach. About 30 minutes south of Clearwater. Looks to be a a more remote area than Clearwater but never been there before. You familiar with that beach?

My buddy lives there. Less than an hour north of me. Decent beach, small touristy area. Laid back, nothing crazy. World apart from Clearwater.
