      Get her three things

      1. A book called Understanding Exposure.

      2. A copy of Light room.

      3. A book on how to use Lightroom.

      Then, its practice.

Oh yeah, get her a good flash. A 430 EXii costs less than 200 used, probably 250 new. It's an absolute must for indoor photography.

She already has it and loves it. She is kind of big into photography but never had a camera like this, so her passion for it will probably increase now.

Just curious of any pointers for someone learning how to use the camera in the image I attached.

Yeah, I posted my message without reading carefully and realizing you bought a camera already. :)

The secret to photography is light. You've got to understand how to use it. The first step is understanding the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO. That's what the book Understanding Exposure will teach her.

              Yup what scrum said.

That's a good camera and it'll take great pictures. If she is passionate about photography she'll outgrow her lenses before she outgrows the camera. :)

Was that a picture of the box the camera came in? Looks like a magazine ad for it circa 1982.lol

Ha, Yes it was a picture of the box I took with my phone. It's a plain box they put a label on at costco. All the nice looking boxes are out on display but they are empty.

Awesome shots. Tell her to watch the white balance. Boys are looking a little green.

Shoot in RAW and tweak white balance in Lightroom. Best thing she can do is to ditch JPG.

Are those 3 different books? I saw this book called light room at Barnes and Noble for $50. Is that the right book?
