  • Off to Grand Teton and Yellowstone tomorrow!

10 day road trip. We got accommodations in the parks, so we'll be doing a lot of hiking and relatively little driving in the parks.

Really looking forward to this! I've lived in the West for 26 years now and for various reasons, have never been able to make it over there! There's no place like the West!

Couple guys I hike with hiked the tetons. They said it was beautiful. Difficult hike but worth it. Lake up at the top was ice cold. Looking forward to your review and pictures.

Simply a lack of remembering what he wanted to see, combined with a joke. You will never compete with my worldly travels, simpleton.

I know what hike they probably did. It is called Cascade Canyon and it is probably the most beautiful hike there. The hike to the lake is over 9 miles RT. Probably won't do it with my 10 yo with me this time, but will go probably half way and turn around.

Speaking of hikes...who wants to do Mt Whitney?

I did three times and I'm getting the itch for it again. :)

Having a great time in Grand Teton! Got some great shots and did some fantastic hikes!

Here is a quick cell phone shot from the deck of the restaurant that we stopped by after doing our morning hike. Can't wait to get home to get my DSLR photos off the CD camera.

That's awesome scrum, beautiful view. I'm jealous. Haven't done any hikes this year yet. Plan on making red river gorge again this fall and hopefully the smokie mountains to hike Mt. Leconte again as well. Nothing like the tetons though.

                            Where do you live, Chuck?

BTW, here is another cell phone shot of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.

It's been beyond fantastic so far. Did a bunch of hiking. Saw a big grizzly male cross the road right on front of us. Also saw a grizzly mother and two cubs. Lots of bison, elk, moose and so on. Also saw bighorn sheep when we hiked up Mt. Washburn. Planning to go to Lamar Valley tomorrow - hopefully we'll see more animals and with some luck, a wolf.
