Yeah, I read about that the day after we left. We were at the Lake cabins, just a half mile from where it happened. I know exactly which trail it was too.

Guy broke two rules - don't go off trail and NEVER hike alone. He was an experienced hiker and a park employee, so perhaps that made him overconfident and maybe a bit careless.
