  • St Catherines Island pics

Made a long run with the duck boat this weekend. Took it all the way out to ocean side of St Catherines Island. Its located mid way on the Georgia coast. this is our local beach if you will. No way to get there by land boat only. Mostly just locals here. Its like having your own private island.:thumb:

    Its got some great history..

We just explored the cut by bird island, did some fishing, found some great pieces of drift wood and watched the dolphins and ospreys feeding along the coast. great day.

I took a few shots showing how the erosion affects the island and how much land is being lost. Amazing how big/ deep roots from the trees go down where it once was land..

Gotta love coastal Georgia...so few know anything about it:grin:

That's an effect of rising water levels correct? Pretty cool root system.

Scary to think of certain cities so close to the water and what will happen to them in the future.

I dont believe it has anything to do with oceans rising but more of natural erosion from the tides and ocean working on the land, just like every where else. Of course if the oceans are really rising as some say..Im sure it will definatly effect it no doubt.
