  • Sad Days in Public Schools

Smart little kid brings his clock into school to show his engineering teacher and gets arrested for it.

This Teenager Was Arrested for Making a Clock His Teachers Thought Was a Bomb

Taking the article at face value, this is so ridiculous. I used to build those little homemade clocks and other geeky simple circuit electronic devices.

Now that everyone involved looks like a complete ass they're going to cover their ass by charging him with a "hoax bomb".

Now he will build a real one, lol.

I picture a couple old southern white teachers looking at this kids name and saying "terrorist" no doubt. Shame.

God forbid you show interest, excitement, and enthusiasm in science and engineering. God forbid you don't come to school bored out of your mind and do mind numbing basic school work.

I learned very little in school. My mind was never stimulated by the everyday tedium of lifeless unimaginative basic school lessons. The few rare teachers who made class fun and interesting is where I learned the most. If I enjoy something I can master it. If i'm bored with something I will pay 0 attention to it.

This kid loves what he does he loves school and he gets punished for it..

            Wow.

We live in a very fragile society; we can only and should only blame ourselves.

Im not big on people playing the race card etc but I have to agree in this case I would have to say racial profiling played a role in this. This is absolutely absurd in my opinion.

This shit pisses me off more than anything else. I have spent all my life doing science and engineering and am raising 2 sons who want to be a mathematician and a biologist, and I wake up this morning to read this. :pissed:

We keep talking about how we need to encourage more kids to study science and engineering and yet, when a kid shows the kind of joyful enthusiasm for the subject, we waste no time squashing it. This ruined my mood for the rest of the day.

Can we just undo the results of the Mexican American war and give this shit state back to Mexico? I swear, there's more dumb shit coming out of Texas than the rest of the country put together.

I saw a photo of the clock. It's a circuit board with an LED or LCD display and a timer chip on it with a bunch of wires.

How stupid are the teachers here? Where is the explosive, geniuses?

Is this what we have become? The more technology we use, whether it is in our cars, homes or at work, the less we seem to know how they work. These people are teachers?

Kids getting plenty of support from the tech/online world, that's for sure.

When you turn stuff over to the government......

Doesn't surprise me. Public schools suspend kids for chewing a piece of pizza into the shape of a gun. The majority of government has gone full retard.

Good teachers are few and far between. They want people that can read along with the mandated government script and follow orders without question.

I think it's more about the culture of a particular place that breeds and feeds ignorance. I don't think this has anything to do with the government.

Where is any logic here. They couldn't look and see it was the time? Even if the time was incorrect, it would be counting UP!

I think it's pretty clear brother. Fear and ignorance trumps logic in the simpleton brain.
