Pharmaceuticals are generally on a copay rate, not a percentage. Insurance companies have networks of doctors, hospitals, etc. So when they are in an agreement together, the insurance companies will only pay x amount (think $2k on a $10k bill), and the hospital/doctor has to accept it. The problem is, when you DON'T have any insurance, you will be billed the $10k and too bad if you don't have it. Same with prescriptions. They aren't making $750 a pill on people with excellent insurance.
