      Wait, wait...

Need more details, Rip. Is this a person who wants something small to put into a pocket or a purse, or something like an SLR with interchangeable lenses? There are pluses and minuses for both, and the best camera is the one you will have with you when you want to use it. If the person is put off by the bulk of an SLR, then it doesn't matter how much bette it is, it's not going to generate great shots if it is sitting in the closet at home.

If the person is going to grow and experiment and is willing to get a DSLR and spend time learning with it and maybe getting some more lenses down the road, then hang tight. Deals pop up all the time, and there will surely be many deals coming soon with T'giving, etc. I will point you to the right one. You should be able to get a T5i or something like that for what you are quoting. I'll be on the lookout and point you to a sale when it happens.

yes scrum, a "real" camera if you will where you can get lenses etc.

Like back in the day of 35mm I had a cannon AE1 I think it was, had a bag full of lenses etc.

          Thanks.

Sounds good, Rip. Camera/lens bundles cone on sale all the time. I'll be on the lookout. If you are going to do Canon, you may want to subscribe to email updates from canonpricewatch.com. You'll get notified of all the smoking deals.

Try Lightzone or Rawtherapee. They are free.

The best is Lightroom though but a) you have to pay for it and B) it is an Adobe product and they are doing some weird things like dead ending their standalone version and trying to migrate everyone to their cloud based subscription model. You can still get Lightroom 6 in the standalone version but you won't get any updates.

I've been subscribing the photoshop CC and lightroom 6 and I'm not using the cloud. Not crazy about the new lightroom tho. It's been way to glitchy.

I doubt a casual user like Turbo would want to drop 10 or 15 bucks a month for an Adobe CC subscription. A little different for you because you are a power user with paid gigs.

Still keeping my eye out for this, ripper.

I saw some really nice deals earlier, but they all have a mail in rebate attached to them and I doubt you want to cut out the barcode from the box on a gift lol... so I didnt point them out to you.

There should be some killer deals around Thanksgiving that dont involvea rebate. I'll point them out to you as they appear.
