I agree with some of this...truth is though..the ONLY thing they understand is ruthless violent action. They need to be completely destroyed. unfortunately, You cant do this and tie the hands of your military...when you do..this is what you get, we are living it right now. The dogs need to be unleashed...let them eat until they are full..andthere is no more..then leave and bring the dogs back home.

Rip, you obviously know a lot more about boots-on-the-ground military stuff than I do. My point is that clowns like Trump think that we can bomb the area back into the stone age. Everything I have read is that our "precision" bombing may be better than what we did at Dresden in WWII, but it far from the surgical precision that some people talk about. There is plenty of collateral damage and at the end of the day, we will have lost the battle for the hearts of the people there.

We have a mess on our hands, no question about it. What gets me is how we are continuously blaming the area, blaming ISIS, blaming everyone else. We need to look in the mirror. There was NO ISIS until we invaded Iraq. We created this mess!! Due to your incessant meddling in the Middle East for the last 75 years, we have created a disaster. There are no easy answers. Do we need to do something? Yes, certainly. But we cannot just blunder in there like we did the last time, wielding sledgehammers. There has to be a much more nuanced approach, deadly and decisive to ISIS, but we need to win the hearts and minds of the people at the same time.

Which is why I hate chairborne rangers like Trump who haven't served a day in their lives, who have ZERO foreign policy experience, bellowing on about bombing ISIS into oblivion, etc.

Ok points made, I don't agree with all, but there are two sides to every story. This administration we have in office right now sympathizes with them. Its why we were pulled back and its why it was allowed to grow..hes all for it.

Russia will pound the shit out of them, now france will as well..funny how the news don't cover Russia's civilian causalities' from the bombings every night isn't it? I think this comes down to this question: "Do we as a nation care if hundreds or thousands of civilians die as we bomb ISIS?"

I can't speak for what Putin or Hollande think, but I know that as an American, it is not only morally wrong to do so, but ultimately, it is profoundly counterproductive.

The next generation of ISIS recruits are born from the orphans standing in the rubble of their destroyed homes, digging out the corpses of their parents.

Well, if we want to call ourselves civilized and them as savages, we should very much care if we kill innocent civilians, and we should very much hold them accountable if they fail to do the same. Descending to their level is not the answer.

It may not be the answer people want to hear because it makes them feel good about themselves by turning the other cheek.....but truthfully. Its the only one they will understand. I don't like saying it. as the saying goes..the truth hurts.

These radicals don't give a rats ass about anyone..even their own. They want to rule the world with what they believe is the only true religion. That is their only cause. I'm sorry but I don't believe in their beliefs and I don't feel the need to bow down to them. Fuck them. We as Americans are not perfect in anyway. we are far from it!!! But we have helped many millions of people thru bad times since our beginning...

I'm not saying we should treat ISIS with kid gloves. I just think that we should be careful about collateral damage because even if you ignore the moral side, just from a strategic standpoint, it is counterproductive. Not easy to do, I agree but chumps like Trump should keep their mouths shut. Their "turn Syria into a glass factory" approach isn't going to work. It is just going to make this much much worse.
