Turkey is an absolute mess.

The jet was shot down by Turkey, but the pilots were shot by a rebel group in Syrian territory. From what I've read that group are ethnic Turks, backed by Turkey, and also fighting the Syrian government who Russia is backing. The rescue heli that went to search for the jet pilots was also destroyed by those rebels, using an anti-tank weapon supplied by the US. Yeah, shit just got real.

here's the thing scrum, those fighters that shot the pilots and shot down the rescue helicopter of those pilots were in Syrian territory. so why did turkey shoot the jet down in the first place? were they in turkey or syria?
