George Lucas' brilliant idea. All one story line but the last 3 films made were prequels. If you see them, in the beginning before the words scoll across the screen they say the episode number and it started with episode 4 in the 1970's.

I'm sure it can be Google, but I think it was he wrote the first 6, but didn't think the first three would stand on there own to actually turn from scripts to movies. To slow of a story.
A common misconception is that Lucas wrote the books. They were just more story lines. Any book was made after the movies.
Fuck him. I want a theatrical release of Episodes IV-VI. I don't want the updated junk where Lucas changes the story. I want to see Han Solo shoot first as it was when it was originally released.
Episodes I-III were awful, so him commenting on VII really doesn't do anything for me. Episodes I-III were a money grab.
