  • Am I an asshole? Need feedback.

My mom asks me a month ago if I want cash or gifts. I tell her neither but she insists so I tell her cash.

I get home just now and there's a big ass irobot box on my doorstep. It's a fucken automatic vacuum from her. Here's the thing though, we just bought a heavy duty vacuum at Costco a couple months ago because of getting a second dog.

Long story short I told her we already have a vacuum and I wish she just would have asked me.

In my eyes she wasted her money when she could have just given me the $299 that the thing cost or saved it for herself. All she sees is "the thought that counts" and my mind just doesn't work like that. My mind sees wastefulness. I don't want it or need it. The only thing I can do with it is return it for fucken khoals cash and use the store credit to buy crap from them.

Anyway she can't understand my point and I can't understand hers. Why ask me "cash or gifts" when your not gonna listen to the fucken answer?

You're being selfish and just be thankful you have a great mother who's willing to give her tool of a son a gift. Come on dude, that's your momma nigga.

Parents do some dumb shit, I can relate to some extent on this story. But you know what man, just be happy you still have THAT.

Just call her up and say thank you! Tell her what you just posted, but don't be a dick and all condescending either. Mommas know and will fuck you up. Tell her you'd rather have the money and get the receipt.

Now all of this would of NEVER happened had you just told her one thing as opposed to "neither"

Parents will listen if you say you NEED THE MONEY and they won't buy a gift....be thankful you prick.

And besides, dysons are better so make sure you tell her:D

In my mind I'm being a caring person by not wanting my mom to be wasteful. I now have 2 new vacuums for a 1000sq ft apartment and she is out $300. How is that logical? What's the point in that? It's wastefulness.

I see where you're coming from B. Shit, she asked, you told her...she does the opposite.lol. No sense in another expensive ass sweeper when you already got one, would be a waste of ur moms money. Agree with Rado, tell her thank you and it means a lot, but you already have one and would like the receipt so the money could go to something else you actually do need. Tell her ur getting low on test and need more :cheese:

It's already turned into a huge deal. She says I'm cold and have no feelings and I say just the opposite because I care about her waisting her money.

She's says "how dare you" a lot. I told her to chill with that because she sounds like she's from a bygone era. She says, "fuck you". :D

You got a point bro. Here is how I see it...I'm sure she already knows your current financial situation so what's the point of sending you a gift when she knows you currently strapped for cash.

I mean we can pay our bills and shit but yea, cash would be helpful and enable us to actually do extra things and such.

Speaking of which. Anyone wanna buy a irobot roomba 880 still sealed in box? It's a $600 vacuum, I'll sell it for $300. :D

Nah, because you're mom got 15% off and $15 in Kohl's cash for every $50 spent for Black Friday. That's $90 :hibb:

So what does that mean for me when I go return it for store credit? They'll only give me $90? Seriously?

No, you'll get a gift card of whatever the price is right now.

Is the conversation over? You're either keeping the vacuum or returning for store credit?
