Good for him, but you seem a little bitter about it.

Who cares if he wanted to make a pile and burn all his money? He earned it and should be able to spend how he wants without scrutiny from the public.

It's a nice thing to do and it may very well be genuine. But lets also remember headlines like these are very good for a company. A good image and a company that gives back = increased sales because the public is more willing to trust.

This is the Bill Gates tactic. He had to do something to change his image of corporate scrooge. I have no doubt he and his wife care very much about their foundation but it was started in order to change his image. This is documented in Gates vs Jobs The American genius series.

        It's a win win situation.

Of course, it's excellent marketing. But I think it's great and fair. He donates a great sum to help others, and earns love and marketing from the public in return. Win win.

haha, i edited my post and added win win as you posted that. :D

agree though. I just think sometimes people only see things at face value and that's not entirely accurate. Would they do this if they had nothing to gain? Would they do this if it was kept private? I doubt it.

Probably not, but at the same time if it wasn't public, he probably wouldn't be able to continue to do it.

On the flip side, the post above stating "about time" or whatever isn't really fair either. Not only do we not know what he may or donate his time or money to, he is certainly free to do as he pleases with that money. I have no doubt he worked hard to get there.

agree. he doesnt owe anyone anything. success does not automatically mean you owe everyone. rado is a simplton who understands very little about the world he lives in.

Not bitter....I grew up where if you have a little, you share.

Nothing bitter about that. I give what I can and when I can; it may not be the kind of money these people give. But I can tell you, it'll feed people for a bit.

I don't like stingy people who have something and don't share it.
