I don't think NY is very sympathetic to CCW. May issue not shall issue and most places likely won't allow it.

I don't know for me it is about bang for the buck. Saturday I was at this mansion for a Christmas party my parents friends were throwing and it got me thinking about how location changes the price so much. This log cabin was on 24 acres, private drive, its own covered bridge, mother in law suite, a pond, fricken house just for pigeons, 30ft ceiling, loft, cabinets cut to match the shape of the hand carved giant logs, etc etc. The kind of house in Architectural Digest. They are selling it for only $970k. That same price in LA or NYC wouldn't have any land or extra garage, suite, pigeon house and the house itself would be just an average house like I live in now.

Different strokes for different folks I guess but for me I'll take the best I can get for my money and avoid a place with uptight laws, uptight people, bums, and smell. More power to you.

I'm with ya chuck, you couldn't pay me to live in the city. But if everyone thought the way I did I wouldn't be able to afford the place I have in the country.

Yea you could have a mansion in Texas for the same money you'd have a shack in Cali.

That said, chuck it doesn't sound like you have much experience with NYC. It's not all uptight people and bums. NYC can be a beautiful almost magical place. Great food, great vibe, and always good stuff to do.

Not NYC just White Plains. Just doesn't appeal to my tastes. Large crowded, city areas give me an anxiety like reaction. I have been to LA and I thought it was a dump just like I mentioned. Bums, smell, dirty sidewalks, smog. Wasn't a pleasant experience. San Diego on the other hand was incredible.

Because NYC and White plains are comparable. :D

Its like saying I have experience with a ferrari because I drive a scooter.

LA is not really a city. It's a sprawling area with buildings. You have to go to the areas surrounding LA to appreciate it.

San Fran, Chicago, NYC, Seattle are brilliant cities.

NYC is fucking magical. I eventually want to live on a nice plot of land, but I would jump at the chance to live in NYC for a bit. The laws are kooky, but it is absolutely magical.

A nice place on the UWS, preferably on CPW, near Central Park and the AMNH is all I need. I'll move there tomorrow if I could.

Hmmm. that picture might refer to the fact that you went to NYC and ate at every tourist trap restaurant.

Ironic timing, your considering a move to NYC and a very urban area to say the least while I am considering the exact opposite for myself and my family.
The fact that I have to pay more than it cost me for my college education annually for my 3rd grade daughter to go to private school just to avoid shitty public schools not to mention the animals that attend them has me thinking it is time. With a younger one entering the school system in the near future as well I am thinking the money I would save in education costs for the 2 of them not to mention all the other over inflated expenses I pay in the Urban area I live in makes it very economically attractive.
I could upgrade to quite a home just adding in the savings in education costs alone. Not only that but raising my children in this environment is a bit disconcerting for me to say the least.
It seems like you and I are considering the exact opposite areas to relocate too.

Move to Illinois and join me in witnessing its fiscal collapse first hand.

By no means am i a country music loving backwoods hilljack...but no way would i ever live an any concrete jungle. Need land, trees, green shit, a place to do whatever the fuck i want-and can, bc my neighbors are a half mile away. Been stuck in an apartment-nowhere near a big city by any means-for 5 years and im honestly ready to fuckin lose it. Like it has been said, different strokes for different folks. Do what makes you happy brother. Me myslelf would feel like i was in borderline prison living in NYC

Do it bro....It's a concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do when you're in New York. Those streets will make you feel brand new. City never sleeps better slip you an ambien.
