Are There Genes for Intelligence—And Is It Racist to Ask?

  • #2
Yup. Certain groups seem unable to pull themselves out of the stone age in the year 2015 yet the Egyptians were building pyramids in 2500bc. Ancient Greece and the Roman empire had sewage systems yet some cultures currently take a bath in their own feces. Without doubt certain cultures and races are further advanced than others. To me that can only mean mental capabilities as a whole aren't equal. Individual exceptions must be taken out of the equation and you must look at the group as a whole. Bottom line, blacks as a whole throughout the world are not as successful as other races or cultures. Call it racist but its a fact. Certain cultures such as the Egyptians have actually gone backwards but that's only due to old world religion not mental capability.

Even if there is a gene that controls intelligence, what's that got to do with race? Why the leap to tie it with skin color? Not something I expected from national Geographic, although now that their communications wing is owned by Fox, maybe they got the stupid gene from them.

At this point we've no way of knowing the findings

Because often certain genes are germane to a certain race. If not, by identifying and isolating who has the gene, you create a race

There's far more genetic variability within Africans than there is between Africans and whites, Asians, etc. In other words, Caucasians, Asians, etc., basically everyone who left Africa in the last 60,000 years are closer genetically to some Africans than those Africans are to other Africans. This has been extensively studied over the last 20 years using Y-chromosomal and mitochondrial DNA analysis to study human origins.

Which is why "black" or "African" as a "race" makes no sense from a genetic standpoint. The phenotype is different of course due to environmental factors, but the genotype isn't.

No no no scrum. This is not about the origins of man. This is about how we've evolved since then. In the same way that certain races have evolved undeniable athletic advantage, so to is there a cognitive advantage.

You are saying that some "races" have evolved the smart gene in the 60,000 years since they left Africa? Independently, since the Asian branch and the European branch bifurcated soon thereafter? You serious, bro?

Most successful immigrant group in America. If there was a smart gene, I'd say we have several copies.

I'm saying mental capacity advantage is as clear as physical advantage in different races. Regardless of how you want to play with the word "race".

I see no evidence of that. Everything I have seen is that when normalized for social circumstances, race is irrelevant as far as intelligence is concerned.

Hold on there a tickity boo, science is ever evolving and it may take deeper digging to find out perhaps we didn't all originate from Africa. Your adopting a "world is flat because the map says so mentality.

Even if so, it could well be that certain strains survived better, migrated quicker and civilised quicker because they possessed a certain gene. Why don't you want this found out?

Not from where I'm stood, do you include Europeans as an immigrant group or do you discount those as indigenous as most assinine American literature does?

Either way I'm cool with whatever they find

Sorry to burst your bubble, but science has already spoken out loud and clear on this. DNA analysis has shown unequivocally that humans originated from Africa and spread around the world. The science is unambguous.

I know it pains some of you guys to admit that you and your ancestors and as a matter of fact, all non-African oeople descended from the San bushmen of the Kalahari (read this), but I'm afraid you just have to get used to the idea. The science is irrefutable, you see.
