A town with a cult mentality. I'm sure the youth are saying "I want out of this town because of solar panels" not "I want out because there is nothing in this shit town".

You know what I'd really like to see is more of a push toward home solar as panels become more efficient. If we were able to make each home independent on green energy it would solve a lot of problems. At that point the only thing you would need power plants (of any type) would be for is industry and dense housing areas such as the core of cities. Homes could dump unused energy back into the grid. It would make a large impact on the environment as well as people's wallets.

Less coal burned would have an obvious impact, less need for giant solar farms and wind farms that kill hundreds of thousands of birds and take up huge footprints. My plan is on my next home to do this myself. Perhaps adding a couple of the Tesla home batteries for night use.

It's just that the push from government is always to help the power companies and give little effort aside from a small subsidy to helping out or encouraging independent energy solutions for home owners.

Chuck, I read that the Tesla home batteries are still not cost effective IF you can sell electricity to the grid. If you can do that, you are probably better off doing that and buying it back at night. If your state doesn't do that, then it might be worth it to go off grid, so to speak.

Yeah I'll look into it come that time for sure. I know there is a big price jump going to battery backup.
