  • 9th Planet Discovered?

Exciting news... I downloaded the original paper, will read through it later. I am sure the observations will be replicated by others, so we will see if this holds up.

Astronomers say a Neptune-sized planet lurks beyond Pluto | Science | AAAS

When they say "beyond" do they mean in the kuiper belt or beyond? If its in the kuiper belt I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

And the size of Neptune. Well its safe to say it's a planet than. Can they point Hubble at it or what?

It's 5 to 10 times the size of earth.

Why haven't we actually visually seen it? Surely we can just point a telescope at this beast?

I've heard about this planet x from conspiracy theorists for years.

I am sure you can after you know exactly where to look, which may take some time to figure out. Regardless, I don't think it is going to look more than a blurry dot because of how far it is.

there is life out there somewhere. might be bacteria or tadpole type creatures or something the size of the dinosaurs. universe is far too vast for there not to be. even if only 1 planet per galaxy has life.. well there are billions of galaxies so you do the math. If you could travel at the speed of light, it would still take you hundreds of thousands of years to get across a single galaxy. I dont think people realize just how big the universe actually is. the chances of there being no other life out there is infinitesimally small.

Well thanks for clarifying that bouncer.
Now my next question is, I wonder what's the biggest planet in the world?
