There is the headland called Cape Kiwanda on the coast fairly close to Portland. We go there pretty often and I have even posted photos of this area over here.. They have a fence preventing people to walk all the way to the edge of the cliff but people of course climb the fence and go there.
Anyway, a few days ago, a 17yo girl fell off the cliff. The Coast Guard looked but have yet to locate the body. A couple of CG rescuers on a jetski looking for her also got into trouble in the surf and the CG helicopter had to fly in to fish them out.
Check out this footage of the rescue of the rescuers.. the Oregon coast is not forgiving at all. The surf is something else.
