  • 7 American Roads To Drive

I'm proud to say I did Skyline Drive in Virginia. It was one hell of an experience. I want to hit all these roads eventually. I don't know how many car/bike enthusiasts we have on here.

When I Skyline Drive. It was in a 2001 VW Jetta with full coilover suspension, summer tires on 17" wheels, upgraded rotors and pads. I actually destroyed my front pads after this trip. Banking corners hard as hell and almost wrecking a few times.

I've now upgraded to a 2013 GTI. Stock suspension is fantastic, but I want full coilover suspension, upgraded rotors/pads, stickier tires, solid motor mounts, and larger rear sway bar.

I want to hit all these courses included a few that aren't listed such as Tail of the Dragon which is known for killing people

Ive done it on a cruiser and on a KLR all decked out for off road/ trail riding. I enjoyed it more on the KLR (dirt bike) set up as the bike was way lighter and I could throw it around more if ya get what Im saying. :thumb: Not many views on the ride just tight twisty after tight twisties and woods.

There are some other roads in that area that are just as good if not better that don't get the crowds..That's just the one that gets all the recognition.

For a more relaxing ride that's still got great twisties and lots more scenic views and things to see the Blue ridge parkway is way better.. the dragon really has no views and you need to really pay attention to the road 100%:thumb:

Miss that KLR..it was a fun bike!! A few shots from area around the Dragon...we would ride up..camp out for a week and ride roads n trails!!

That's awesome lip. Now I'm itching to go. I don't have much experience with a bike going on twisties (just straight line balls to the wall). For now I'll stick to a car

The roads up there can and will hurt ya if your not smart about what your doing..IDK what your driving..

Also, if you do the dragon..clean up your ride real good. there are professional photographers set up in turns that get your pics as you come thru. Then you can get on their site on line and order the pics if you want them..:thumb:

That's cool man. I'd detail the shit outta my car before hitting that road. I drive a 2013 GTI. I would upgrade the suspension, tires, and brakes before hitting that road though.
