powered by a newly developed 1,500-horsepower W16 engine running a quartet of two-stage turbochargers. According to Bugatti, the new engine is 25% more powerful than the the single-stage, quad-turbo W16 unit that powered the Veyron for the past decade.

The manufacturer claims the new hypercar will be able to achieve a top speed of 261 mph. The Veyron's top speed was 253 mph.

Do you want to live in a world of "that'll do"? A world where nobody pushes the boundaries?

And you can drive an AMG to its full capacity where bro? Your arguing for arguments sake.

AMG gone :) took a different brand this time. Don't need a high performance car, I've had many of them.

Either way, that's sick on how fast it'll go:woot:

Could we see a 300mph car in the next ten years?

It'll be tough. I remember them saying on top gear during the Bugatti review that getting up to 200 is easy. Above that the resistance forces pushing back at you are immense. I think they said something like the Bugatti only needed about 400 hp to get itself up to 200. that additional 53 mph was what took all 1000HP to achieve the top speed of 253.

when you consider that this new car has 500HP more but only goes 8mph faster you start getting a hint of just how hard the battle to 300mph would be for a standard road going car.

with todays tech it's doable but you'd probably need at least double the HP and a more streamlined design.
