Please, reality check. Obama had accepted SXSW speech BEFORE Nancy Reagan died, not after, like some of the websites seem to suggest. He didn't change his plan which sitting presidents rarely do to attend funerals of former first ladies.

The point is that sitting presidents do not usually go to first ladies' funerals. So what Obama is doing isn't unusual. So I won't hold it against him. Now, if it was an ex President, that's a different story.

Not trying to argue with you, but you are holding Obama to a higher standard than other presidents before him. Yes, it would be nice if he could attend. But his absence isn't unusual or breaking with established protocol. Sitting presidents don't usually do what you are suggesting. The First Lady is attending, which I understand is typical.
