I've got a S&W 460 which uses the x-frame the same as the 500 but the 460 has a much higher velocity. Supposidly if you zero at 200 yards, from the barrel to 250 yards there will only be a 5 inch rise and a 5 inch drop. The only limitation of the revolver is user skill, which is why I'm still deer hunting with my muzzleloader, lol.
