I just bought a laptop. Im upgrading the amount of memory. It takes PC2100 SODIMM RAM. Anyway, on crucial.com they have it listed as 512MB. It dosent give me the opption to get 1024MB which is what I want. My compute has a max of 1024MB and has 2 memory slots. Does this mean I have to order 2 512MB sticks or will crucial send the 2?

Will I ordered 1 thinking that they would have it set as a pair. Well right now the computer has 2 128MB chips in it. Will it be ok to take 1 of those out and have a 512mb and a 128mb set in there for a total of 640mb?Originally posted by blm
You will have to utilize both memory slots and specifically order 2 (512mb) memory chips.

No they won't send a pair because they wouldn't make as much money from you if they did. Yes you can use a 512 and 128 simultaneously. And that is a considerable amount of memory, considering you are probably only using the laptop for basic functions.
