Cool looking dogs sometimes but I really don't know why anybody would own one.
Agree to a point Frank, I wouldn't trust someone else's pit either. As an owner its a bit different. I've owned all of the "tough" breeds of dogs and there is something special about a pit. They earn your respect every day with their attitude. The determination they have for every single thing they do is nothing but inspiring.

To me it's a bit like owning a really fast car or a speed bike. Why own one when you know it can be dangerous? Just like the owner of a hyabusa, it takes responsibility and care to own one. The reward if you are responsible and put the effort in is worth it though.

The problem with pits is that they attract a certain type of owner 90% of the time. Not nessisarily dog lovers either. So you take a dog that has fighting genetics and you pair it with a tough guy type owner and you have a lethal weapon on your hands.

For me it's about taking a "dangerous dog" and raising them with love and discipline and turning them into a capable yet controlled pet and family member that can be gentle with the little kid next door yet rip the guys throat out that tries to break into my house.
