  • Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

First off, I'm a huge superhero fan. With the exception of a few movies, I love all of them. Without spoiling the details of the movie, I'll give a basic review.

For me, I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Overall, the movie was good, but not epic like it should have been. Lots of wasted time with character development and Lois Lane being saved like 3 or 4 times, but I think Lois being saved so much might be intentional to lead up to something else in Justice League.

I didn't think we needed to revisit Bruce Wayne's parents being killed. We know the story, we've seen, move on.

Lex Luthor's role wasn't cast correctly in my opinion. Yes this is supposed to be the younger version of Lex, but Eisenberg just came off goofy and looney.

The action scenes were great, but the problem was there wasn't enough of Batman and Superman fighting. Their fight scene was probably 5 total minutes. The the final battle lasted about 10 or 15. I think if you take the same movie and just add more fight scenes here and there, you have a great movie.

It was almost like they tried to develop both Batman and Superman too much in one movie and then rushed the battle scenes. The Avengers were able to fit several major characters in one movie and pull it off nice. They did right.

Of course you're going to have your comic book fans that will bitch about how the movie is different than comics. Get over it, it's a movie not a comic.

So I liked the movie because I'm a fan, but I think they missed the mark. They had a huge opportunity to blow all Marvel movies out of the water by a long shot, but failed to produce the action packed battle that everyone was expecting.

Now, instead, Captain America Civil War will meet those expectations and Batman V Superman will be forgotten.

My brother saw it and said something similar to you. He said it was drawn out and too long. I still want to see it down the road

I didn't love the look of the trailers. I'll watch it when it's available on one of the free stream sites.

Nah man, there is still a lot in the movie you need to see that I didn't mention. Don't get me wrong guys, it's a movie you should see, definitely at the theater, but I just felt it could have been so much more bad ass if they didn't spend so much time with the story line and maybe added a few more mini battles in between.

Red, you didn't think it could have been a lot better with more battles and maybe a different Lex Luthor?

My son and I saw it today. It was his second time seeing it. Hes a huge comic book fan and loves super heroes! I'm kinda turning into a super hero fan myself after hearing him talk about them pretty much 24/7.

He liked the movie, I thought it was boring and even after the show walking to the car I had to ask him what the movie was even about. Didn't really seem to have a point to me. But I think it was just laying the foundation for the future movies.

All I know is I'm going to be comparing it to dark Knight and I'll know I'll be let down.

I'm confused on how I feel about it. The best way for me to describe it is, watching a movie that is part of a loved series. It doesn't do the series justice, but you have to see it.

It was way to soon for me to change batman. Ben was fine as Bruce Wayne, but felt very much like an imposter as Batman.

Henry Cavill is still good as Superman.

Jessie Eisenberg is where I'm most conflicted. I really like him, but can't figure out if it was his script or the acting that didn't feel right for Lex. Maybe both. The more I thought about it, the last 5 minutes of him as Lex gave me hope. This is where I wonder if it was the script. This movie for Lex seemed more about him becoming the Lex we know more than him already being that Lex. Which is odd since Batman and Superman are so far into their stories.

Does my review sound all over the place? That's how I felt during the movie. It felt disjointed as I was watching it. It jumped all over the place. Bruce is all about investigating Lex but but Batman is focused on Superman.

I guess as I type it, that helped me figure out my confusion the most. With all these parallel lines DC is trying to force together they made Bruce and Batman feel like two different people.
