  • Cincinati Zoo gorilla shot dead

Watch "Cincinnati zoo kills gorilla to save boy who fell into enclosure" on YouTube
    https://youtu.be/Zfuz7cTDNeI

Kid climbs in, gorilla drags kid around a bit, women scream to hype the gorilla more. Zoo shoot the gorilla dead to eliminate risk.

Sad but right call by the zoo in my opinion

Where was mommy while the kid was "falling" into the exhibit?

It's all the talk here, being local news and all. People are going both ways. On one hand the kid was saying he was going to get in there according to witnesses and ended up following through, on the other hand it shouldn't be possible for a kid to get in there under any circumstances. On one hand they say the gorilla wasn't violent, on the other a 911 caller says the kid was being hit against the wall and dragged.

Who knows. The zoo has a team trained specifically for these instances and the decision was made with a childs life on the line being the priority. They didn't use tranquilizers because the 400lb, strong as fuck gorilla would have been very agitated prior to falling asleep and one hard strike would have crushed the kids melon. Sad story either way.

She had 6 kids to keep an eye on as well as trying to enjoy the zoo herself. Anybody with a bunch of kids knows you can't 100% keep them from doing stupid shit.

She gave up her chance to enjoy the zoo when she decided to take 6 kids.

Shame and the parent should be fined heavily IMO but I'd probably have shot the gorilla my self if I was part of the staff and it was dragging the kid around. Obviously would have preferred a tranquilizer but maybe that takes too long to kick in.

That's one good thing about me taking my kids to the Detroit Zoo, I don't think they actually have any animals there! You go to see the Lions and you see a sign saying "The Lions are feeding" you go look at the Gorillas and there's a sign there saying "The Gorillas are being treated by the vet". Sometimes they dont even bother to put a sign up! Walk through this exhibit to see some polar bears, next thing you know, youre through the whole thing and didnt see one single polar bear! Biggest scam ever....lol

I just watched that video. The power of that gorilla was crazy! He pulled that kid through that water like nothing. If that was my kid I would be jumping in there! I could not stand back and just watch!

If you or I jumped in there the gorilla would either respect us as zookeeper or beat us to death in a second as a threat.

                    Very 50:50

Yeah, I'd go in knowing I probably wasn't coming out. Makes me sick to my stomach even thinking about my kid being in that situation.

My question is, would I jump in to save a kid that wasn't mine? It would be hard to just sit back and leave any kid in there alone.

also gotta think about the fact that even if you jump in and sacrifice your life there is a very real possibility you still don't save the kid. but i get what your saying, cant just stand there and watch it kill your child.

If I was there I would most likely have silenced those screaming women
