Memorial Day Birds and Butterflies

What better way to spend Memorial Day than a 3 hour walk through the wetlands looking at birds! Saw lots of different species and finally got to photograph a lazuli bunting for the first time.

hey scrum do you have Magpies all over up there? I had only seen them on tv before moving out here but they are all over out here. Supposed to be one of the smartest animals on the planet.

They are in Central and Eastern Oregon but not out here in Western Oregon. Super smart birds.

If you get close to their nest they won't hesitate to swoop on your ass. Happens all over here. Even a bar and grill named after them here.
