  • NFL Punter Banned From Planet Fitness For Grunting

"I'm embarrassed to say I paid $20 to this establishment."

    By Nick Schwartz

    Jun 2, 2016

Super Bowl champion and fitness fanatic Steve Weatherford went a little too hard in a Planet Fitness, and he posted a video last week after he says he was thrown out of the gym for "excessive breathing/grunting."

"So I have trained at well over 1,000 gyms all over the world. Not 1 time have I ever been approached and asked to "tone it down"...

Today I was unceremoniously kicked out of planetfitness for excessive breathing/grunting.

A gym should be a place that encourages, motivates, and inspires you to build the best version of yourself possible. Not a place that has a built in siren the manager activates when someone is working hard and breathes heavily.

I'm embarrassed to say I paid $20 to this establishment. I'm fortunate to be an overly confident person. Can you imagine how embarrassing this would be to someone trying hard to change their image through hard work and they let a more than quiet breath out.

The gym can already be a very intimidating place, clients don't need to worry about being completely humiliated for working hard."

Planet Fitness refers to the siren Weatherford mentions as the "Lunk alarm."

"We believe no one should ever feel Gymtimidated by Lunky behavior and that everyone should feel at ease in our gyms, no matter what his or her workout goals are."

I have no problem with planet fitness at all. It's a place for people who want to talk and socialize to go and do their thing. Keeps them out of my gym. And it might not be a real gym to us, but the owners pockets stay full and that's what's most important in my eyes.....lol

The issue is that they are very successful with the new business model. So if your a gym owner and your seeing this new approach make big $$$ suddenly your thinking hmmm maybe I should do the same thing..

Before you know it poor alpha dogs got no where to train.

              Betaitis #1 threat to world.

Its not a gym. There right about that. They removed all benches, smith, squat racks and db's now everyone is going to our gyms.

Wow. I knew they got rid of all barbells and squat racks a few years ago but hadn't heard about the rest.

What the hell are you supposed to do? Eat pizza, drink beer, and talk about your feelings?

(Damn, sorry guys, after I posted this I noticed this was a resurrected thread)

My wife works out at PF, she doesn't like going to Golds with me. I've gone with her a couple of times when I just did cardio. Place is a joke, they serve Pizza on certain days. Literally a shit ton of Hungry Howies Pizza boxes as soon as you walk in. Buckets of Tootsie Rolls, bagels, etc... DB's up to 75lbs, no benches, no racks, and 2 squat machines. I went with her the other day since it was shoulder day. Since I have torn my bicep a couple of times I cant really do heavy shrugs with a bar or a db so I do them in a standing calf raise machine. Believe or not it really works since you cant cheat, shrug up hold and let down. So anyways I walk to the counter and ask the "trainer" if there were any calf raise machines, and his answer was: What's that? Dead serious a f'ing trainer with no idea what a calf raise machine was.

ballistic missiles targeting all planet fitness locations should be at the top of the agenda for the next President of the United States.

Haha, remind me of the time I was traveling for work and stopped at the gym near my hotel for a workout. This was in the Bay area. I wanted to do weighted pullups and asked the girl behind the counter for the dips belt to attach the plates to, and she looks at me like I'm speaking a foreign language.
