I don't know much about politics or what liberals mean. But I will say that I fully disagree with empowering criminals by way of giving them "rights" even after proven guilty. If it's established that you are guilty beyond doubt and you have committed a horrible crime you should have no rights. They should be treated in the same way they treated their victims. Torture, rape, violence should be the punishment for those that commit such acts. If you rape someone and kill them you should have a broom handle shoved up your ass until you bleed to death or bacteria kills you from the inside.
