the actual aclipse doesnt happen for another 20 minutes but it's already looking strange outside. its almost 10am and its usually bright as fuck but right now it looks like it 6pm in the afternoon. even though the sun looks normal as of right now. weird.

well that was lame. deespite 80% coverage the sun itself looked normal. its darker then normal on the ground like it feels like it's late afternoon but the sun hasn't changed at all. i was expecting some kind of actual shadow over the sun or some shit.

It was pretty awesome out here. We didn't have totality here in Portland but got pretty close. The sun looked like a crescent moon a day or two before/after New Moon.

It got pretty dark, like it was 8pm or something.

Bouncer did you have glasses for it? Using the glasses the sun looks like it's half covered over here right now. Like a giant bite out of a cookie. Good drop in brightness outside.

No glasses. I just looked at with my eyes. Lol. Looked like a normal circular sun. I don't get how it can be 80% covered and still look normal aside from it being darker on the ground.

Eyes can't focus on the sun being that bright. Dangerous to do btw.

The Great American Total Eclipse of 2017

It was cloudy over here but it was crazy. About an hour and a half after the eclipse started the clouds started to break open and it was like a round circle of blue sky right over us. So I got a glimpse of it real quick with a welding mask and then the clouds started coming in again but it was just weird to have the sky opened up like that.

Aww man, you blew it. Even at 92% totality, my camara on my phone couldn't distinguish a shadow; too bright. It just looks like a normal round sun but when I looked at it through the glasses, I could see that only a sliver of the sun was not covered. It looked like late afternoon to dusk out as far as light level and it got a little cooler and the wind picked up. If I didn't have to work, I would have driven 4 hours to asheville and been in the path of totality.

Maybe in 2025, when one cuts through the midwest, I'll drive the 10 or 12 hours to get to the path of totality. That will be my last chance to see one. The next one after that isn't until 2045. I will be 94 if I live that long.
