eh who cares bro...I went through those years of modifying cars and such. i remember back in '94 we would blue print our prelude engines and put them in civic hb's ;) now those were the days...back then it was all about coil overs, adjusting cams etc....over it:)

That golf r is no joke. 2yrs ago when I was car shopping. I couldn't find a golf r in my price range. I would have turned that car into a monster

Here's the dyno after some work done to it. It's not bad, still the torque needs to be higher

Tell him to get a boost controller. I don't know how much boost those things can handle but when I had my Talon you could crank that fucker up and get an extra 30hp without upgrading anything else. Paid like 130$ for a cockpit controllable manual boost controller from Hallman. With upgraded fuel pump and injectors you can get even more and still turn it down when your not racing to be easier on the engine. They have fancy digital ones too.

Can't like the good old days Chuck. Everything is ecu controlled. On top of that, factory turbos have internal waste gate actuators that will stop that.

The second the ecu detects something not within a normal range, the car goes into limp mode to preserve it.

I can't even brake boost in my car and it's been tuned. Some shit you can't do anymore

Wow that's fucked up man. Fuckin manufacturers. So you gotta put in an aftermarket ecu and a new turbo just to crank it up, or can you just replace the wastegate actuator with old school vacuum controlled model and fool the computer with a resistor somehow?

My Eagle Talon was a '96. Airplanes still use vacuum and that's all I know. By the sound of it the new tech ain't worth a shit if you can't mod it to simply increase the boost. Fuck that was the best and cheapest HP per dollar mod there was.

The DSM was a fun car but man what a POS.

You just reprogram the ecu. Even that has some parameters that you can't fuck with. For example, my gti made 8lbs of boost stock. After my 3" downpipe and 3" catless exhaust, we tuned it and now it spikes to 22lbs before tapering to 19.8lbs and holding. Makes decent power and puts stock 5.0's and Camero SS's to shame.

Yeah if you could get it to stay together. Mine was a 2g. The engine was a tank and could take 30psi on the stock bottom end but it leaked every fluid from everywhere and everything suspension wise broke. Constantly needing repair.

I had a "Big" 16g turbo that I ported cause the stock T-25 turbo took a shit. Boost controller, 190lph fuel pump, BOV, and intake. Needed exhaust, injectors and a tune but I couldn't deal with the high maintenance so I dumped it on some high school kid.

There was a guy from around here that had a high 7 second first gen. Running 50psi boost, heavily modded. Owns Bushur racing and they sell parts and mod DSMs.
