Mariuz also got banned one year for cocaine l, used to use it before events. Everyone knew, afteectge death of one of the competitors (marrundi?), organisers were at risk of losing t.v. deals and in response told all competitors in a pre event meeting that they would test forccoke, mariuz was so arrogant he just ignored it

Never knew about the rule change. Wonder if they specifically changed it because of him? Was he not well liked within the WSM community? He was sure popular amongst the general public. I remember him in all the bodybuilding mags and GNC commercials. No other WSM was getting that kinda coverage.

Competitors got fucked off en mass

They were like "what is this a running race or a lifting competition " I think the AC had alot to do with it because when they increased their weights others won.

If you ask a strongman competitor that will all day today that while the WSM is the traditional competition and world pubkicised, the AC is a better true test

In the US WSM used to be covered on ESPN all the time. I mean literally reruns and everything. Absolutely zero coverage now. Shame.

Zydrunas Savickas is listed as one of the competitors is the 2017 Arnold Classic. Will be interesting to see if he is still lean or bulked up again.

Ok but if Marius was in his prime right now with current advances in training, technique, etc.. it's safe to assume he'd be right there. Let's not forget Marius beat Savickas on more then a few occasions if I'm not mistaken. Savickas improved and Marius retired but I don't think you can say without a doubt that if Marius was in his prime right now that he wouldn't be WSM champ with a set of abs..

Id love to see Savickas compete in WSM in his prime at the leaner weight to see how he compares to his fatter self in competition.
