Doesn't matter what he does the liberals will always find something to bitch about. Just like all the conservatives did for Obama! Funny how quick things change.

Will your racist shit ever end? True colors come out when people don't get their way...is it showing?Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostLet's just say that when a guy appoints a raging white supremacist anti-semite as his adviser, I'm not inclined to be very charitable about his intentions.

Donald Trump won the election by highlighting work class concerns about where their income and standard of living are going. And the Dems ignored it and got burned for it. No question.Originally posted by lipripper View PostDon't matter..your whole manner has changed..your an educated person..yet you have completely changed your way...think about it scrum...
But Trump also either directly appealed to white concerns about the changing demographics of the country, or looked away when this was misappropriated by his followers into flat out bigotry and hate. When the freaking KKK came out and supported Trump, he could barely get out a lukewarm statement repudiating it. Every step of the way, he has had chances to repudiate white nationalist bigotry and he has chosen not to do so.
The alt-right movement has gotten a HUGE boost in this campaign. Do you know who Steve Bannon is? He was the CEO of Breitbart. Under his watch, Breitbart went from a ultraconservative site to a flat out white supremacist site, peddling conspiracy theories about Jews and raging about the deficiencies of women, blacks and gays. There are numerous documented instances when Bannon has pretty much come out and showed himself to be a raging racist and anti-Semite. I can list out individual incidents if you want but believe me, this guy is not just some ultraconservative guy. He is Stormfront-grade white supremacist. Is this the guy we want whispering in the President's ear every day?
Look, Trump won. Fine. But a lot of people, primarily minorities, are very nervous about what a Trump presidency will do to them. Trump had the golden opportunity to reach across and say to them, Look, I know you didn't vote for me, but I am not going to do anything to hurt you. I want to hear your concerns and what can I do to assure you that I am your President too?
But by appointing Bannon as his adviser, what Trump has done is to give a fuck-you middle finger to all those people - POC, LGBTs, Jews. It is a HUGE missed opportunity for him to bridge the very real divide in this country.
And on a personal note, I am the only POC on this site. And we don't have any women either, having collectively driven off FB somehow. Don't put me down as a rabble rouser here. If you want to hear a genuine viewpoint "from the other side" as it were, then don't dismiss what I am saying. I may not be at the lower end of the social and economic spectrum but I can fully relate to and explain what minorities are worried about. And if you don't want to hear it, fine, I am done with this conversation, but just like with Trump, it is missed opportunity for an alternative viewpoint to be heard here.

Scrum those same white voters who voted for Trump also voted for Obama. Sure there are racists in this country, but Trump didn't win due to racists. Obama beat John McCain's dumb ass by 10 MILLION VOTES. Of all the entire US population, only 12% are black, and of those 12% something like 8% are registered to vote and of those 8% something even lower actually even vote like around 5%. At the end of the day, with 68% of the entire US population, non-hispanic whites determine elections.

I acknowledge that. Totally agree that a lot of guys who voted for Obama voted for Trump. Again, the main reason Trump won was because working class white voters in WI, MI, etc. were concerned about stagnating incomes and their long term job and standard of living prospects. Trump came along and soothed their concerns while the Democrats ignored it. Boom, game over.
But the same concerns that I talk about above, also stokes a need for scapegoats. The alt-right movement has thrived on this, and Trump has chosen to benefit from it and even stoke it mildly (or at the very least, choose not to repudiate it).

.
But you are missing the point. I have not (to the best of my knowledge) been subject to or suffered from racism. I am only saying that I can understand the sentiments being expressed by minorities, even if I have not, to my knowledge, suffered it directly myself.
