  • Buncha cowards in the Senate. Did their vote in the middle of the night because they can't look their constituents in the eye while they do it.

We need single payer. I hope Bernie is rolling up his sleeves. Throwing away the ACA is a death sentence for many. When it sinks in, there's going to be some weeping soon.

    • I actually wouldn't be suprised if trump gets whacked

It would be a patsy job where the guy that kills him would be either staged or incited then whacked themselves. Maybe a black or a Mexican

Single payer....you've got to be kidding me. Check out the VA for all you need to know about our corrupt government and single payer.

            • I'd love to see a scheme that is universal healthcare without any restrictions on preexisting conditions.

There are 52 million Americans with pre-existing conditions that will be denied healthcare if the ACA disappears.

              Here is the relevant data:

Pre-existing Conditions and Medical Underwriting in the Individual Insurance Market Prior to the ACA | The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation

The ACA may not be perfect but it clearly does more good than harm. Goal should be to improve on it by raising the subsidy limit or whatever. Not to throw it away without any replacement plan.

It doubled or tripled the premiums of all the families that I personally know. Extremely affordable.

                • It also allowed 20million people who used to be uninsured to get insurance. We need to figure out how to keep them insured while fixing the cost issue for others.

                    • I'd love to hear it. Same for Congress. They worked all night to set the stage for an Obamacare repeal. And they haven't shared what they are going to come up with.

Yeah the VA is a disaster, but I wouldn't exactly call it single payer. It's just 100% govt insurance which I don't think can work in America. It seems to work pretty well in Canada though so I guess it's possible. I'm not optimistic it can work here.

I'm a small business owner and the fact that healthcare is tied to employment (at a Very Large Company) is insane. The largest corporations with huge employee rosters negotiate favorable deals -- I want to buy into the same pool as my friend who works for IBM.

The ONLY solution is to strip it all down - and everyone has to pay for their own insurance, just like auto insurance. Insurance should not be a "benefit" of employment.

In this situation the ENTIRE country becomes one giant buying pool not limited by geography or the state you live in. I think we'd still have an issue with young millennials not buying insurance which is one of the big problems with the ACA. If the young healthy people would buy plans (which are cheap for them since they are young and healthy) then the premiums for everyone would go down. These are the same people by the way who gave us Trump. They were so butthurt over Bernie Sanders that they chose not to vote at all.
