  • Conor McGregor Makes History

Anyone have a complete video of the fight? I completely forgot. Sorry Mr.I, I didn't see your text till way after the fight was over, I would have posted the links yesterday if I knew the fight was yesterday, I completely forgot.

    ____________

Irishman Conor McGregor made history by becoming the first fighter to hold two UFC belts simultaneously with a second-round knockout of Eddie Alvarez at New York's Madison Square Garden.

The 28-year-old challenger, who went into the fight as the reigning featherweight champion, added the lightweight title when referee John McCarthy stopped the bout with just under two minutes of the second round remaining.

McGregor dominated from the off and had Alvarez on the floor of the Octagon three times in the opening round, with the American wriggling free on both occasions.

The Irishman, with a five-inch reach advantage over his opponent, began showboating in the second, holding his hands behind his back as Alvarez, 32, looked to respond.

It was one-way traffic and the bout was stopped when three consecutive punches knocked Alvarez to the floor and with McGregor ready to pounce, McCarthy dived in.

In an expletive-ridden post-fight interview, McGregor said: "Not one bit was surprising, they are not at my level.

"They have got to have size, reach, length, you have got to have some attributes. If you come in any way equal to me I am going to rip your head off, it happens every time.

"Eddie is a solid competitor, Eddie is a warrior, but he shouldn't have been in here with me and that's just the truth of it.

"It has never been done before. Everything I have dreamed is a reality.

"I have spent a lot time of time slating everyone in the company. I have ridiculed the entire roster and I just want to say from the bottom, I want to take this opportunity to apologise...to absolutely nobody!"

    Love this here!

I can't stand his antics, completely against what a true MMA should be, period. He's made an absolute laugh fest of this sport. His persona/character is what is making EVERYONE super rich(er) now.

He knows how to make BIG bucks and to attract the most crowds anyone has ever seen in recent sports, as a one man show sort of speak.

He's an incredible fighter and I wish THAT would reflect in his humility. This is why Diaz beat him, he got into his head as Connor does with everyone else: the mental game is where it's at in this sport.

I like Connor, I don't like his persona. Now the UFC is going to ride high on this one, 2 belts, 1 man:woot: tell me who doesn't want a piece of Connor now? UFC/Dana are very smart business people.

and I go back on forth on here, just know it's the persona I can not stand, there's the difference. other than that, I like the guy a lot. he talks bs and backs it up, not many can say or do that.

I just ilused one if your old post links. I have to say I've never seen a more stupid fighter in Alvarez.

CMs biggest weapon apart from push kick was his left hand. So what does a fighter do if your oposing a guy with a great left?

What do fighters do when facing dan henderson?

You fucking circle left out of the way!

Instead Alvarez continuously headbutt connor left hand

I didn't like conner at all when he first fault Nick Diaz cause of talking so much shit then couldn't back it up. Was actually glad to see Nick kick his ass but I do give the boy huge props for coming back and fighting like he did to beat Nick n the 2nd fight. I heard his training hit the checkbook hard but either way he did it. Dana already said he's got to caught up one of the belts. lol

McGregor got his swagger back. Should have never moved up in weight class to fight Diaz. McGregor wasn't as quick, didn't have good stamina and couldn't do much damage when he landed a punch when fighting in that weight class he didn't belong in.
