That's just because people don't know how to escalate or are intimidated. I'm willing to sit in a cell for a few days, bit believe me, I'll sue their pants off for violating my civil rights. They can't violate my 4th, and if they do, I'll insist on exercising my 5th. And if they don't let me, well you better believe there's a multi million dollar lawsuit that Uncle Sam will be staring at.

Yes. You basically cannot be searched without probable cause. You can give the info under protest, and then sue for then violating your civil rights. I personally will not give that info without talking to a lawyer. And do NOT sign ANYTHING without a lawyer.
