Sexual identity is DNA not mental state. X and Y chromosomes do not care what you think you are.

Science is discovering that DNA-based gender is very distinct from gender one identifies with. For most people, the two are the same, but not for everyone.Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostSexual identity is DNA not mental state. X and Y chromosomes do not care what you think you are.

You're justifying transgender as perfectly natural and normal because "for most people they are the same but not for everyone".Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostThat doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
I could make a terrible argument about down syndrome being perfectly natural and normal because most people don't have a chromosome defect but people with down syndrome do.
To put it simply. Both are defects be it mental or physical. To say transgender isn't a mental defect is the same as me saying down syndrome isn't a chromosome defect.
If your mind cannot identify what your body is you have a mental disability. I'm sorry but this cannot be disputed.

I would caution you against making judgments like "perfectly natural and normal." Those aren't words that make sense.Originally posted by Bouncer View PostYou're justifying transgender as perfectly natural and normal because "for most people they are the same but not for everyone".
.
I think you may be missing the point. There are two separate identities - the gender assignment at birth that your physical body gets, and the gender assignment that your brain dictates to your mind. Once you realize that these are two distinct things and for a subset of people, these two aren't the same, then the question is what society needs to do to those who have this distinction. Why should a transgender girl be forced to go to a boy's bathroom even though public separate sex bathrooms are a relatively recent phenomenon? Isn't it less traumatic to them to go to a bathroom where they don't stand out?Last edited by Scrumhalf; 02-22-17, 10:56 PM.

I'll add that the "public safety" argument is such a crock of shit.
There is zero evidence that we have a sexual assault problem perpetrated by transgender people that the public needs to be protected against. The bathroom law is a cynical, mean-spirited and vindictive law put in place for no purpose other than to kick a group of people who are already down.

A little over 50 years ago, whites thought people of color shouldn't drink from the same water fountains as them. That miscegenation would cause moral decay in society. And we look back on those days and say to ourselves what the hell were we thinking.
Mark my words - 50 years from now, our grandkids will look back incredulously at this debate.

So the solution of what society needs to do with those that have this body dismorpia is mutilate their genitals and feed them opposing hormones?
And nobody is saying trans are causing a problem in bathrooms, the safety concern is literally anybody can say they feel like a transgender as an excuse to purv a women's restroom. There is nothing stopping that from happening. If I was a perv I would go to Target for example with a cam and loiter the women's room for jerk off footage.

I am not buying that argument at all. And this is why.Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostSo the solution of what society needs to do with those that have this body dismorpia is mutilate their genitals and feed them opposing hormones?

Today, nothing is preventing a male rapist or pervert from cross dressing and entering a women's restroom and ogling or assaulting someone there. When's the last time that happened? So, why do we think it's going to start happening all of a sudden now? It defies logic. Unless we admit that the bathroom bill has nothing to do with safety and everything to with denying an oppressed minority the basic dignity of performing a natural bodily function in an inclusive environment.

It's not the same scrum. Chuck is a man walking into a woman's bathroom dressed as a man. And you think that is ok? lol It's almost comical in a sick kind of way. I know you think "the world" is for this but you are only the 2nd person I ever heard of trying to defend it. It is also comical to think our government wanted to waste money and resources on this subject when there are much bigger problems to be solving. What was wrong with how it is? You're a man dressed as a women and you use the woman's bathroom. No one even notices and says anything. No reason to make a law that says go ahead and use the bathroom of your choice. lol

What the fuck?! Why is everyone is trying to re invent the wheel? Why the hell do we need laws for everything? Fuck! You are a transgender guy dressed like a woman go in to the women's bathroom get in to the stall close the door squat and pee. Nobody fucking cares.
You are a transgender woman dressed like a guy, go in to the men's bathroom go in to the stall close the door squat and pee. Nobody fucking cares.
When I walk in to the men's bathroom I see a pair of feet sitting in the toilet I'm not thinking if it's a guy or a girl. All I'm thinking is I better finish and run out before this mother fucker bombs the place.
And guess what there are several clubs and some restaurants here in LA with unisex bathrooms. None of them have urinals all with bathroom stalls. You walk in bunch of guys and girls standing around waiting for the next available stall. No big fucking deal.
So please shut the fuck up with this trivial shit! :D

Scrum, I see you "liked" beast's post so why are you trying to arguing that there needs to be laws passed so that people can use the bathroom of the gender they identify with?

Chadd, let's make sure we are on the same page here.
I am all for converting ALL bathrooms to unisex bathrooms. That will solve all problems.
But that isn't the issue right now. There are many states passing laws mandating that transgender individuals MUST use the bathroom that is consistent with their birth certificate. That forces a transgender girl, for example, to use the men's bathroom. What the previous administration did was to require schools to not force kids to do that. In other words, a transgender girl is free to use the girl's bathroom. The new administration removed that requirement, so we are back to forcing transgender kids to use the bathroom of the gender they were born with. I think that is cruel and mean-spirited and unnecessary.

But didn't the previous administration want individuals to use the bathroom of the gender they associate with? Meaning I'm not a transgender but I can use the women's bathroom if I associate with that gender?
And you think restaurants and business should now pay to have unisex bathrooms installed or converted?
