The 2017 McLaren Honda. Let's hope the color change does something to improve speed and reliability. Lol

      Fastest F1 car

I guess they picked orange because it'll be easier to see it at the end of the grid.

We need more power and less grip. We need driver skill to play a part ffs

McLaren need a new engine supplier asap. honda engine is even worse this year. shame because mclaren belongs at the top fighting with merc, ferrari, and redbull.

                McLaren-Honda Shit The Bed

alonso would be better off driving a mclaren p1 road car in the race. at least then he would be able to finish a race. :D

When asked whether he was able to take Barcelona’s Turn 3 flat out, Alonso also made a joke about the lack of performance.

“Oh yeah, for us, not only Turn 3,” he smiled. “For us nearly all the corners are flat.”

Not only does the Honda engine have many problems. Even when they aren't having problems they are still way underpowered compared to the other teams. I have never heard such a sad and desperate sounding statement from anyone. I think we can expect the mclarens to be at the very back of the pack.

Honda chief Yusuke Hasegawa admits he is more worried by the Japanese manufacturer's performance deficit to its rivals than its reliability problems over pre-season testing.

Honda endured a problematic winter, with numerous problems across the eight days limiting McLaren to just 425 laps -- the lowest of any team and less than Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton and Marcus Ericsson managed individually. After his penultimate day in the car Fernando Alonso said McLaren's only problem was its Honda power unit, which he claimed was 30 km/h down on every straight.

While rival manufacturer Renault had come into winter expecting to struggle with its Energy Recovery System (ERS), Honda was not braced for so many difficulties.

When asked by Racer.com if Honda had been anticipating any specific problems coming into testing, Hasegawa said: Of course not. Of course we knew the performance level but we didn't know the level of the other teams, so from a comparison point of view we are a little bit scared of the situation and it's too optimistic for us to expect a very good result in Melbourne.

"But from a trouble point of view, of course I didn't expect such a wide variety of problems that we suffered ... Everything that has happened has not been seen on the dyno, I believe. Especially the day two issue and this week's day one issue, we didn't expect such a problem."

Hasegawa thinks Honda's performance deficit is more to do with its rivals making a bigger jump than expected, rather than a failure to deliver on its own part.

"Of course we also improved our engine performance level; however, it looks like the PU performance improvement of the others is better and higher than us. We may even be further back, so that is very disappointing. "From the settings or a setting point of view we may have some things we can do in these two weeks. In the next two weeks we will try to find some ways of tuning the engine, and it can have better performance [by Melbourne], definitely."

Hamilton set the fastest ever lap time today in Canada and equaled Arton Senna in pole positions. He's only 3 away from Schumachers record. The senna family gave lewis a race worn helmet. Lewis was blown away, its his childhood hero. Brilliant shit. Hamilton fan or not, this was an amazing moment.

Kimi was 8.5 seconds faster than Senna's legendary lap in Monaco.

I know your half joking but I wonder if those guys do get tested? Most people think racing drivers aren't athletes in the traditional sense but wrestling those 1000hp monsters 60-70 laps for 2 hours takes huge amount of physical effort. Add in the fact that they are hitting 6-7 G in some corners that's what air force pilots experience. F1 drivers typically lose 2-3lbs of water in a single race.

Obviously they aren't on AAS because they are tiny but I can see something like GH being very beneficial to an F1 driver. Also any kind of drug that improves focus.

Believe you me they must be on something.. Not necessarily PED, but something for the focus and edge... Them Jet fighters were taking speed for the focus.. I wouldn't doubt the drivers take some sort of the same...

To me it's boring enough watching them drive for hours. So imagine how they feel...
