we are talking about alot of things. one idea i really like is taking one of these wedding trips down to one of the islands with 20 people or so. they figure the airfare hotel, wedding formalities and everything else into the cost.

        congrats!!!

and i ditto sachet's sentiments..... if it were up to me, i want to have a very new england-esque clam bake on the beach after getting married on the water. like early may or something. small 50 ppl max.

remember the day is about you, your fiancee and your families, not making everyone else and their mother's happy.

LOL Sounds like you're already married to her! ;)

Congradulations! I'm with going for a smaller wedding too. The $50k that's blown in a night seems like such a waste to me. We never had a big wedding and I'm still glad we did it small. You can use the money towards a house or something else together that will be around for many years to make lots of memories with. Just do what makes you two happy...don't worry about everyone else...this is your moment!

I always thought the average big wedding cost about $20K - $25K... My wedding was at a country club and I had a designer dress and we had prime rib dinners and there were 200 guests... we only spent $22K. I had everything, photography, video, etc.

$50K, I don't know where the $$$ would be spent on. Are you sure it would be $50K? My sister is planning her wedding now and I think hers is also going to be in the mid 20's. I know it depends on where you live too, I'm sure a wedding in NYC would cost more than here in Cleveland, OH.

i know someone who did their wedding at the plaza, 150 guests, $90k or so.

it's NYC, you can't do a decent receptions for less than $120/head.

my cousin is doing hers in april which is considered off season and on a friday which is the cheaper of the two weekeknd days and is paying 120 a plate. her dress is an amazing custom job but i cant see spending 3 grand on a fucking dress. her fiance thinks she is crazy especially since she plans on turning around and selling it on ebay a week later.

sana that's amazing. here a top of the line reception runs $80 a head. Ours was about $65. I wanted it at the $80 place but it wasn't available till 6 months after we wanted to get maarried and I didn't want to wait that long.

We have the rock-n-roll hall of fame and they do wedding receptions there. That would be cool. It's a beautiful building and it's right on lake erie. Then you could have a top of the line wedding in another city and not have to spend tons of $$$. just an idea.

We went to City Hall too. I'm not sure if our marriage is legal though...both of our witnesses were under 18.
