      That sounds great

William H. Seward, the United States Secretary of State, negotiated the Alaska Purchase (also known as Seward's Folly) with the Russians in 1867 for $7.2 million.

Based on a price per barrel of $50, that volume of 1.2 bn barrels of oil equates a value of $60,000,000,000.

Wonder what it means for Saudi Arabia ahahahaha

yea, was seen as a folly back then. funny how history plays out.

i think the real fear for Saudi Arabia is shale oil. the US has mass quantities and i mean MASS QUANTITIES. it's shit for the environment though.

I don't really understand it all, but I mean is that volume in alaska a real geocommercial shifter? I mean if the US and UK turned to Saudi and said OK we aren't buying anymore from you at all. How long would that alaska batch last?

Shale Oil is a much bigger factor compared to the Alaska find. In the past we didn't have the technology to be able to pull the oil from shale. we do now even though it's not very clean. the US is ramping up shale production monthly. that's what keeps the Saudi's up at night. We have enough of that shit to run the US for hundreds of years. though hopefully we will have switched to cleaner energy by then. 100 years of shale oil production will seriously fuck up the environment.
