Yea they even gave the Russians advanced notice to evacuate the airbase. It was more about a message I think. Not sure what's in Trump's head. Kinda makes us look a bit incompetent since he hardly seems to have done much damage. Kinda lame.

Well, if you look at the facts it;

1) showed a strong and unilateral (no waiting for UN council approval) response.
2) This postured ostensibly showing the fast military capability in the area in total disregard to Russia and assad.
3) it did not diminish the Russian or Syrian government capability materially in its fight against Isis.
To do what they did without significant risk of engagement by Syrian or reven Russian forces must have taken some real strategy, perhaps even cooperation.
