Any Motorcycle riders?

Been giving a lot of thought lately to getting a crotch rocket. I've only ever riden a motorcycle one time, a Yamaha R6 in a parking lot a long time ago. I am used to 500+ hp cars though. I owned a bike for a couple years some years ago but it was never in running condition (Was given to me in boxes but no cost). I got rid of that POS.

Lately I've been getting the itch to try again, as a cheap way to enjoy some speed again. I had a good friend get killed on one wearing full gear and the thought of serious injury or death is weighing on my decision, as is the thought of the gear investment and time learning. Any riders or ex riders have any opinions or input on the matter?

Nice. So is the reward worth the risk? Any major injuries? Is it really necessary to start with a tiny 250?

I had 2 gsxr 600's

Had the Alstare edition twice. I loved it, especially when I was in Tampa and Miami.

I ended up doing a high-side in '05 and that was the last time I rode.

No need to get a 750 or 1K list bike, what for?

I'm a twisty kinda guy, I liked scrapping the knees on turns.

I went one up in the rear sprocket for more torque. I always liked going up on one in 2nd gear. Be safe man, very dangerous.

It actually crossed my mind about a month ago. Told my son about it and his reply was epic.

"Daddy, don't you wanna be at my wedding" he is 9yr old, it point being is he wanted me alive...kinda put me in sad mode when he said that.

Now in Ohio, riders are galore, kinda like FL.

Yamis are good too, but I prefer me a gsxr....unless you want a Ducati and a wet clutch, they sound horrible.

Yeah I was thinking an older lower model sport bike. Early to mid 2000s zzr600, yzf 600 or, gsx 600. Something I don't have to worry about dropping. Or a super sport 600 if nothing else decent crosses the path and the money is right.

High siding must have been some scary shit! Rider error or was it road condition? That's the big thing for me is so much depends on a clean and clear road and other drivers compared to a car. Just not sure if the fun outweighs the chores and responsibilities associated.

I would suggest to start with a 250. I did not have the option as I learned on 88 cubic inches I believe. Riding in so cal is very dangerous. I'm sure Rado had his share of danger in Hillborough and Dade county. Highly populated and lots of crazy motherfuckers.

Don't buy a crotch rocket unless your 24 or younger. Get a Harley. I have a dyna also and a roadking. The bagger is in style but I prefer the dyna over it any day. They cost 10 times more than a crotch rocket but almost worth it IMO.

Different strokes for different folks? I've never looked at a cruiser and thought it looked like something I wanted. Ass missiles on the other hand always attracted my attention.

If you live in Southern California it's not worth it man it's to over populated and people drive like fucking idiots. Motorcycles are fun as fuck tho I'm thinking of getting another dirt bike or maybe a dull sport

You don't need tiny motor... 600 is more than enough.. my first bike was a Honda 600rr modified and also the first bike I learned to ride with....
It felt better than my 750 gxsr... Europe is the best place to ride a motorcycle... Fuckers can not drive in the US

Rode a 500cc for many years. No need to start on a 250cc although they can be fun because they are light.

But it's dangerous. Too many stupid car drivers that you are totally invisible to. I am glad I sold mine finally.

I was going right on the ramp onto 275hwy in tampa.
As I went into the turn, I blipped the throttle and that was it lol.

Caught some small gravel and there I went flying off my bike. And mind you I was only going about 40mph.

Cracked my crankcase and hit the rail. Chipped my hips, rash and scared me enough that I was done.

Been riding for 30 years over all. All kinds. Don't get on current bike as much..it's the ads driving n looking at their phone that worries me now. Last two I've owned...loved the duel sport klr 650. Fun times. Current bike is the black C50
