no. i think the fact that he is an older male and she is a young female helps. if they were closer in age or same sex i think it would be more likely because she is pretty aggressive with other dogs. i also think she remembers how good he was to her as a baby. they were like best friends within 2 days.

when he was growling over the vodka bottle she started rolling around on her back making puppy noises. lol. yet i have to grab her when another dog is near because she will do everything she can to pull away from me and get at it, growling the entire time.

i think he is simply part of the pack in her mind and all other dogs are the enemy. lol

Speaking of other dogs, my pitt mix does the same when I'm walking her. She walks fine, but gets really alert when another dog is nearby and focuses on the dog. The other day someone had their dog off leash. Looked like a golden retriever lab mix and the dog ran over to us while I was walking her. The dog was being friendly but there wasn't much I could do to keep them separated, so they sniffed each other, tails wagging then my girl went for the dog's neck and locked on near the dog's ear neck and luckily I was able to jerk the leash enough to get her to leg go, but it wasn't pretty.

I don't really like having a dog that can do that to another dog. Not sure if training would help or if it's just in their nature.

training can certainly help but make no mistake it is in their genetics. i consider myself pretty experienced with the "tough breeds" having grown up with rottweilers and raising French mastiffs i can say without a shadow of a doubt that my pit has far more desire to fight other dogs than the other breeds ive raised. i used to believe "its all in how you raise them". well i have raised my pit the same way i raised my other dogs and she is on a whole different level of aggression towards other dogs. i got her as a baby so she has never known any kind of violence. its purely genetic. i think some pits have that desire more than others because i have seen very calm and friendly pits.

as for people who let their dog run around off leash. i hate those mother fuckers. i have to pick my pit up and hold her against a tree or a building because she goes fucken ape shit if a dog runs up to her. shed kill it. i have zero doubt. im so glad shes views my old boxer as part of the pack. she has never once shown any agression towards him. she plays gently with him. if his back legs give out when they wrestle she stops and smells him to make sure he is ok.

thanks. he's 13 and will be 14 in Jan.

I feed them Kirkland Natures Domain. The important thing is to find a grain free dog food. Dogs were not designed to process grain. All the cheap brands use it as filler. Purina, ukinuba, and all that shit is literally like a human eating doritoes and pizza as a daily diet. When you can buy 60lbs of dog food for $20 bucks you know it filled with cheap garbage.
