  • The Thinking Person's Video Thread

Add stuff from Sagan, Feynman, Degrasse Tyson, etc. in this thread.

Here is a fantastic one from Sagan. Damn, I miss this guy. The world could really use his wisdom today.

its not just the wisdom but the ability to convey the message they are trying to get across to average people that made these guys so great. some genius level guys simply can't "dumb it down" enough and the message gets lost.

Jim Al Khalili is another one of my favorite scientists/communicators.

I've learned more from the guys named in this thread then I ever did in school.

This is probably my favorite science documentary ever.

Brian Cox is another guy who has so much passion about what he's trying to teach. It's hard not to want to learn from him.

Natural Curiosities with David Attenborough is another one of my favorites. Not your typical nature documentary series. Check it out, it's on Netflix.

Lawrence Krauss is one of my favorites due to his forward thinking and ability to explain things in a way a more average mind can understand. Here is a good lecture from Krauss https://youtu.be/BBXDrNn6pUg

The Genius series on natgeo has been amazing. Season 1 was on Einstein. Season 2 which is airing now is on Picasso. Very well done which is a surprise because natgeo channel has been mostly a pile of shit the last 5 years or so. Hopefully this is a sign they are returning to their roots.

just an interesting factoid. Picasso's house recently sold for 24 million.

There was only one bidder in the courtroom in the southern French town of Grasse. That in itself was hard to believe, given that the property on auction, the Villa Notre-Dame-de-Vie at Mougins, in the hills above Cannes, once belonged to Pablo Picasso and was the home where he spent the last years of his life.

With a starting price of €20.2 million (about $24 million), and nobody else competing, it was picked up on Thursday, October 12, by Rayo Withanage, a Fiji-born, New Zealand real estate businessman associated with a prince of the oil rich state of Brunei.
